CHARM AND SHINE DERMA
“A concept for a skin clinic website that feels as considered as the care behind it.”
01 — CONCEPT BRIEF
| Project type | Self-initiated concept |
|---|---|
| Client | Fictional — no real clinic |
| Practice | Medical + aesthetic dermatology |
| Design goal | Clinical trust, warm and beautiful |
| Results | None claimed — design exercise only |
02 — THE SCENARIO
Charm and Shine Derma is a fictional dermatology clinic in London, invented for this concept. The scenario: a clinic offering medical dermatology (acne, eczema, skin checks) alongside aesthetic treatments (peels, facials, injectables). Its website has to reassure someone worried about their skin and appeal to someone booking a treatment.
The design question: how does one site hold both the clinical and the aspirational without looking like a hospital or a beauty salon flyer?
03 — WHAT THE CONCEPT COVERS
- 6-page structure: Home, Treatments, Conditions, Meet the Team, Journal, Book a Consultation
- Treatments split into Medical and Aesthetic paths, so visitors reach the right one fast
- Practitioner profiles with credentials, to build clinical trust
- Consultation booking section, designed around an embedded scheduler
- Results gallery layout with a consent-first note: photos only with patient consent
- Skincare journal layout for patient-education content
- Mobile-first layout with a sticky Book a Consultation button
- AI Receptionist entry point on treatment pages: answers hours and pricing-range questions, hands anything clinical to a human
04 — THE APPROACH
The concept starts from a tension: dermatology is medical, but people book it the way they book something for themselves. The design keeps clinical credibility (credentials, clear consultation steps, plain-language conditions pages) and wraps it in warmth, so the site reads as caring before it reads as clinical.
Photography would be skin-first and natural rather than heavily retouched, with generous white space, soft rose and plum tones in place of the usual sterile white and teal, and an editorial serif for display. Every page ends in one clear next step: book a consultation.
05 — VISUAL IDENTITY DIRECTION
Fraunces (soft serif) for display / Figtree for body
Soft, luminous and editorial. A blush porcelain ground, rose clay for warmth, deep plum for authority and a touch of champagne for luxury. Lots of air, natural skin photography, no clinical clutter.
