A WordPress care plan is a monthly service where someone looks after your website for you: updates, backups, security checks and small changes, so the site keeps working and never goes stale.
Plans differ from one provider to the next, but most cover the same core jobs.
Updates. WordPress itself, your theme and your plugins are updated on a schedule, and the site is checked afterwards to make sure nothing broke.
Backups. Regular copies of your site, ideally stored away from your web host, so you can restore it quickly if something goes wrong.
Security. Monitoring and checks that help keep out malware and spam, plus protection for your login page.
Small changes. Edits to text and images, a new section, a corrected phone number: the everyday changes that otherwise wait until you find the time or someone to do them.
Fixes. Someone to look into it when a form stops sending, a page looks wrong or the site goes down.
A WordPress site is built from several moving parts: WordPress itself, a theme and a set of plugins. Each one is updated by its developers, and many updates include security fixes. Skipping them is a common way sites end up compromised.
Updates can also cause problems of their own. A plugin update can break a form or change how a page looks. That is why a good care plan includes checking the site after updates, not just clicking the update button.
Then there is content. A site with an old phone number, an out-of-date price or a broken link quietly loses visitors' trust. Small, regular changes keep it accurate.
A care plan keeps your existing site healthy. It is not a redesign, an advertising service or a promise of search rankings, and it usually has limits on how much change work is included each month. Ask what counts as a small change before you sign up.
Some hosts offer automatic backups or core updates. That helps, but it usually doesn't cover plugin updates, content changes or fixing something that breaks. Check exactly what your hosting plan includes before you decide you don't need a care plan.
• What exactly is covered, and what costs extra?
• How often are updates and backups done, and where are the backups stored?
• How quickly will you respond if something breaks?
• How many small changes are included each month, and what counts as small?
• Who owns the site, the hosting and the accounts?
• What happens to the site if I stop the plan?
My Website Care Plan covers monthly updates, backups, security and small changes, so your site never goes stale. It is one of the four main things I offer, alongside the website itself, lead follow-up and the AI Receptionist. If you would like to know what it would look like for your site, book a free 30-minute discovery call.
It depends on the size of the site and what is included, so compare what each plan covers rather than the price alone. I share exact numbers for my own plan on a discovery call.
Usually, yes. Providers use both names for monthly updates, backups, security and support. What matters is the list of what is included.
A new site still needs updates, backups and security from day one. Some builds include a period of post-launch support, and a care plan is what takes over after that.
